FOX Breaks from Pack on Wednesday
Thu, Apr 10, 2003 09:59 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast National ratings for Wednesday, April 9, 2003

FOX led Wednesday night's ratings, thanks once again to "American Idol." The networks' numbers were down overall, probably due to viewers tuning in cable news for coverage of the fall of Baghdad.

For the night, FOX averaged an 8.0 rating/13 share. CBS, 7.1/11, took second, just ahead of NBC, 7.0/11. ABC was fourth at 6.2/10. The WB earned a 3.1/4 in the metered markets, beating UPN's 2.9/4.

FOX also led among adults 18-49 with a 6.8 rating. ABC averaged 4.2, NBC 3.2 and CBS 2.7.

"That '70s Show," 6.2/10, and the "American Idol" results show, 10.8/17, gave FOX the lead at 8 p.m. "Dateline NBC" was second with a 7.2/11. "Star Search" put CBS in third, ahead of "My Wife and Kids," 6.1/10, and "George Lopez," 5.2/8, on ABC. "Enterprise" averaged 3.8/6 on UPN, while The WB's "Dawson's Creek" trailed.

CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with "60 Minutes II," 8.5/13. "The Bernie Mac Show," 8.0/12, and "Wanda at Large," 6.9/11, gave FOX the No. 2 spot and finished ahead of CBS in total viewers. "The Bachelor" averaged 7.1/11 for ABC, while a repeat of "The West Wing" on NBC was fourth. The WB moved up to fifth with "Angel," 3.4/5, beating a rerun of "The Twilight Zone" on UPN.

At 10 p.m., a rerun of "Law & Order" put NBC on top with an 8.2/14. CBS' "48 Hours Investigates," 6.6/11, beat ABC's news special on Iraq, 5.9/10.

  • Ratings information provided is from fast national data. Numbers for UPN and The WB are taken from the overnight metered markets. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.
