Web 3D Art 2002
New Media:
Dates between Wed 13 Mar - Sat 30 Mar 2002.
The ICA is proud to present the first UK exhibition of 3D online art; previously shown at the 'Web 3D Symposium' in Tempe, Arizona.
The works are chosen for their functionality, content, and contribution towards the use of 3D in creative and artistic works in design and architecture. Pre-1996 3D online work offered creatives the first chance to use open source software, VRML, and to create 3D spaces on-line, which had previously been done by academic institutions or large corporations. With the advent of more accessible software and the explosion of 3D games, this work is making an impact on those who want to manipulate objects in real time-virtual space and over the internet.
The artists and designers include: John Klima [who will be included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial]; Zvonimir Bakotin and Van Gogh TeleVision; Ricardo Barreto, Fabio Prata and Fabiana Krepel; Craig Chun and Vishal Dar; Petko Dourmana and Sergey Petrov; Patrick Keller, Christophe Guignard, Christian Babski and Stephane Carion; Dimitar Atanasov Karanikolov, Manuel Abendroth, Jerome Decock, Alexandre Plennevaux; OOSTERHUIS.NL; Melinda Rackham; Sophie Redele / Iris Kaltenegger; Squid s o u p; Leander Seige; Tomoo Shimomura; Tamiko Thiel and Zara Houshmand; Jaka Zeleznikar.
