Heinzerling/Wells Final Results

July 18, 2003:

Another perfect sailing day for the final race: SW about 15 knots. Pimental/Tocke win the Heinzerling and Leppert/Suggs win the Wells. results page for the detailed scores.

Heinzerling/Wells Day 2 Results

July 17, 2003:

Today was another quintessential Buzzards Bay day. We left the harbor in a fading northwester, but by the time we got to the course the SW breeze filled in and finally settled in at 220-230 degrees, although there were shifts to be found. The breeze ranged from 10 knots to maybe 18 tops at times during the three races for the day. results page for the detailed scores.

Heinzerling/Wells Day 1 Results

July 16, 2003:

Two races were completed today in very windy overcast conditions. The breeze was 15 knots from the South, building to 25 by the end of the second race. Very large steep waves made for some exciting downwind action. results page for the detailed scores. The Crosby Series is sailed as a 4 fleet round robin.

Crosby Elimination Series Day 2 Results

July 15, 2003:

The Crosby Series finished off with two races on Tuesday July 15. The first in a 5-8 knot easterly, a rare direction for a sunny day on Buzzards Bay and the second in a 8-12 knot southerly. The Crosby Trophy is awarded to the finisher with the lowest score finisher (counting all races), while a throwout is allowed for the purpose of determining the qualifiers for the two final fleets (Heinzerling and Wells). results page for the detailed scores. The Crosby Series is sailed as a 4 fleet round robin.

Crosby Elimination Series Day 1 Results

July 14, 2003:

A light southwester about 5 knots building to nearly 15 knots and then decreasing to less than 10 knots during the afternoon gave two shifty (for Buzzards Bay anyway) races under cloudy skies to start the Crosby. results page for the detailed scores. The Crosby Series is sailed as a 4 fleet round robin.

Womens and Juniors Final Results

July 13, 2003:

A carbon copy of yesterday, but with the first two of three races in slightly less breeze. See the results page for the detailed final results for the Juniors and Women.

Womens and Juniors Day 1 Results

July 12, 2003:

Today was a Buzzards Bay Chamber of Commerce Day, 80 degrees, SW breeze about 18 knots made for ideal conditions. See the results page for the detailed scores.

We're under way!

July 11, 2003:

Measurement has started in some torrential rains, however the forecast is for sunny and 80 degrees for the next 4 days!

Henry Filter and Steve Stewart take a break during a downpour.

About the Event:

The 2003 Snipe Nationals will be held in Marion, Massachusetts between Saturday July 12 and Friday July 18. Marion is a small town located in southeastern Massachusetts. The New England charm of tree lined streets and white picket fences is evident throughout the village and is reminiscent of a time long since past. Marion's harbor is listed on the charts as Sippican Harbor. It is one of the prettiest harbors in Buzzards Bay, a sailor's paradise. It is known for its steady southwest winds that blow like clockwork almost every afternoon. The regatta will be hosted by the Beverly Yacht Club which has a history of conducting major dinghy events and the Marion to Bermuda Race.
