This should be useful to those who don't have a PC, and are not likely to own own but want to make audioCDs. Enter the Phillips CDR870, a stand-alone, home consumer recording unit. It did get some pretty good reviews in Wired (Jul'98, p152). Retail, it's going for US 649, but my ad-sponsor has it for US520 if you buy it online. Not requiring a PC, it should be pretty fool-proof. Buffer-underrun BTW, this is one of the few models that allow for the swap trick...other standalone CD recorders can only use special CDRs, this model allows you to get around that ;)
