Just suppose there was an organization that came to work and managed their business the same way and got the same results.
Let's further suppose the leadership was not happy with those results and informed the operations managers of that disappointment and mandated there be different operating results.
The operations management then went and managed the operation's processes and systems the same way and got the same results again.
Huh!! Hmm!! Hate it when that happens!
Let's tell them again!
The leadership explains AGAIN that these results are not acceptable!
The operations managers hear this plea and go out to those same processes and systems and manage them the same way -as best they know how- and get the same results!
Then one day the managers go out and manage those same processes and systems and low and behold they get the desired results!
it's a miracle !!
The leadership sends an applauding voice mail congratulations and says it's about time, now keep it up. We knew with our outstanding leadership you would come around! Now keep it up. If you can do it once...Someone said.

A lot of leaders are informal leaders. That is, they have leadership skills and the authority power is not there. The people follow them because of their ability to lead. In business, this can be very detrimental. This phenomenon presupposes that those with authority power are lacking in leadership ability. You probably know of cases in point.
The "white rabbit" sits at the desk... halo intake, without a clue. So, now what.
Engage brain, let out clutch
The organization will not survive in this age without teamwork. The informal leader must muster every positive drop of DNA in his/her being and help el' charlatan guide the organization. Extreme amounts of maturity must be garnered to the fore. It happens. Beware the terminally inept.
Coach Holtz says, "If you want to lead ...it starts with your own fervor. You can't fake it. If you don't have a genuine hunger to accomplish something, you won't be able to lead anyone effectively. But if you have a passion..."
HUNGER and PASSION...
I hear it a lot. "My plate is full."
Sometimes it's true. However, often it's not the plate that's the problem. It's the appetite. No hunger.

Is it that (other people, of course) filter what they see and hear so much that there is a continuing self - fulfilling prophecy in their leadership style? Are they so resistant to change that everything they see and hear MUST fit their perception of how it should be?
I've left meetings where it was literally said, "I know what they said, but what they really meant was.."
'They didn't really mean NO overtime.'
'They didn't mean we have to start that policy right now...' "

Maybe they just don't want to see; don't want to hear...don't agree with the program. So, easier to just interpret; decide what they REALLY meant....

When management stops interpreting everything the leadership says. One of the positives from QS and ISO is the reality of reading and/or hearing something and management having to accept it as written/as said. Literally, as written; Literally as said. You mean they meant it?
