General Manager Mike Smith announced today that the Chicago
Blackhawks have signed defenseman Deron
Quint. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not
disclosed.
Quint, a 6-2, 219-pound defenseman, appeared in 51 games
last season with the Phoenix Coyotes recording seven goals and 10 assists
for 17 points and 20 penalty minutes. He also played in four games for
the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League scoring one goal
and two assists for three points and four penalty minutes.
A veteran of eight NHL seasons, Quint, 27, has played in
407 career NHL games scoring 42 goals and 90 assists for 132 points and
148 penalty minutes while skating for the Winnipeg Jets/Phoenix Coyotes,
New Jersey Devils and Columbus Blue Jackets. He was originally the Winnipeg
Jets' 1st choice, 30th overall, in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
