At age 18, her greatest claim to fame was fitting actor Clark Gable for glasses. Now the art created in her renowned studio is shown in 137 leading museums and institutions throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Vatican, the Hermitage, Smithsonian Institution, Buckingham Palace and the White House. Each of the past nine presidents has requested Boehm porcelains as gifts to Heads of State. Helen Boehm was born Helen Franzolin in Brooklyn, New York. When she and Edward Boehm were married, he began sculpting; and soon they opened a small porcelain studio in a Trenton, New Jersey, basement. By the time her husband died in 1969, he left her with a wonderful legacy to continue the Boehm tradition.
