Welcome
to the new Center for Private Conservation. The CPC is new because
it is now an independent organization. Founded in 1995 as a project
of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), the CPC is now an
independent conservation organization. The staff of the CPC would
like to extend a heartfelt thanks to CEI for allowing the CPC to
become an independent organization.
While the institutional nature of the
CPC has changed, its mission remains much the same; to promote the
practice of private approaches to conservation of the earth’s
resources through the use of property rights and markets. Towards
this end the CPC will continue to spread the good news of private
conservation. In addition, the CPC will also start to become
involved in on-the-ground conservation projects.
Through all its activities, the CPC
will continue to chart the course of innovative approaches to
conservation.
