Game With Fame For Xbox Live

Microsoft Corp has announced the launch of Game With Fame, a new offering on the Xbox Live service that allows fans to play the latest Xbox Live titles against today’s most popular start and celebrities. The launch event is scheduled for February 4, 2004 with an opportunity for Xbox Live subscribers to match skills against six time Grammy nominees and white hot hip-hop duo OutKast.

Monster Garage Game Released

Activision Value has released Monster Garage The Game for the PC today. Licensed by Discovery Consumer Products the game is based on the popular Discovery Channel reality television series of the same name starring designer Jesse James. Monster Garage The Game lets players join the Monster Garage team and create a custom machine in seven days, for $3000 or less. Monster Garage The Game retails for $19.99 and has been rated "E" for Everyone by the ESRB.

XSN Sports World Championship

Microsoft today announced the eight finalists for the XSN Sports World Championship. The final round of the first ever XSN Sports World Championship will be held February 12, 2004 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, California. Hosted by Xbox Live and NBA Superstars Shaquille O’Neal and Antoine Walker, the XSN Sports World Championship is worth $25,000 to the gamer who rises above the other finalists with expert skills in all XSN Sports games.

The eight finalists in the XSN Sports World Championship are:

  • Robert L. Sapienza, North Tonawanda, N.Y. - "NFL Fever 2004" Championship Series
  • Kenneth Tarver, Athens, Ga. - "NBA Inside Drive 2004" Championship Series
  • Gary Bryon Moore, Grove City, Ohio - "NHL Rivals 2004" Championship Series
  • Josh Thurman, Leesburg, Ga. - "Top Spin" Championship Series
  • Dan DeBilt, Fargo, N.D. - "Links 2004" Championship Series
  • Ian Smith, Kentfield, Calif. - "Amped 2" Championship Series
  • Nathaniel Paul Barrick, Mt. Holly Springs, Pa. - At-large finalist
  • David Muellerweiss, Chapel Hill, N.C. - At-large finalist
  • On February 10th and 11th, in Los Angeles, the eight participants will battle-head-to-head to determine the top two players. The final round on February 12th will feature one last battle, on a yet to be announced XSN Sports game, to decide the ultimate winner.

The program will officially kick off in March 2004 with a national promotion featuring opportunities for gamers to score $10 off ESPN Videogames by purchasing Coca-Cola. An innovative under-the-cap program will offer easy-to-redeem prizes of $1 bankable on-line for up to $10 off selected ESPN Videogames titles including basketball, football, baseball and hockey.

    Q: What is the most compelling aspect of this game - in your opinion - that lends itself to videogame market?

    Patrick: We think rugby is much tactical game than people realize which makes it a very good sport to adapt as a strategy/management game. It can also be quite spectacular.

    Madden Bowl 2004

    EA Sports announced today that it has crowned the winner of its Madden Bowl 2004, a Madden NFL 2004 competition for NFL players, music and film/TV celebrities. The private event was held in Houston during the Super Bowl festivities, and hosted by P. Diddy and Anthony Anderson. Defending champ Dwight Freeney of the Colts took on Willis McGahee in the finals, and won 28-0. Also on display was NFL Street, where the likes of Barry Sanders, Joey Fatone, Reggie Jackson, Lil' Flip, Big Boi of OutKast showed up to play.     DTM Race Driver 2 News

    IGN is reporting this afternoon that a special edition of Pro Race Driver 2, designed for the German market, will allow racing enthusiasts to enter the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) league and compete in more than 30 different championships on 56 tracks around the world. The game features an improved graphics engine, regulation pitstops, improved physics, overhauled enemy AI and an abundance of licensed vehicles. Check out IGN for more.

    Telegames Scores Rascal Racers

    Telegames will publish a kart-racing style game for the Playstation called Rascal Racers in North America at the end of March. Rascal Racers is a colorful racing game featuring adjustable difficulty settings, multiple tracks, 3 worlds (City, Forest, and Ice), 9 different race tracks, 10 selectable characters, 3 gameplay modes (Time Trial, Arcade, and Tournament) and 6 bonus items.

    Reebok and Acclaim Juiced

    Acclaim's Juiced will support Reebok's CyberRider technology according to an announcement by both companies today. Acclaim's upcoming street racing game title will support the interactive exercise bike and will be the first of many Acclaim titles to support the system. Juiced is scheduled for a September 2004 release.

    The Fast & The Furious

    Mobile game publisher Dbi and Morpheme today confirmed the forthcoming release of The Fast & The Furious. The game is set in is set in Los Angeles and will focus on the street-racing, car-customisation and prize-winning aspects of the original Fast & Furious film. Players get to choose from among six cars, which they then enter to race against five other Artificial Intelligence-controlled cars around one of 12 different street tracks, avoiding oil slicks, road obstacles and the rough shunting tactics of competing drivers Success in initial races generates prize money which can be spent in the game's "Chop Shop" where better car performance-enhancing equipment (engine, tires, nitro, acceleration, handling) can be purchased to improve the player's chances in the next race.

    LMA Manager 2004 Preview
