Melbourne singer songwriter Dan Kelly arrived on the music scene after stints as a farmhand and a cook, a way to get by until he could get a band together. He has since performed with the likes of Spencer P Jones, Maurice Frawley, Tex Perkins, Ed Kuepper, The Scientists, Paul Kelly, and part of Dan Brodie's Broken Arrows. He has now finally formed his own band 'The Alpha Males'.
More recently Dan has recorded on Paul Kelly's new album and collaborated with him on the music for the new ABC TV series Fireflies. Dan is just about to release his debut album 'Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males Sing the Tabloid Blues'.
Dan Kelly joined ABC NSW Sunday Mornings Producer Kim Honan in the studio to chat about farmlife, touring, songwriting, his new album and working with his Uncle Paul Kelly.
Hear Sunday Mornings Producer Kim Honan ask Dan if he felt like storytelling was in his blood, and what it was like working with Paul Kelly on the Fireflies soundtrack.
