A Tom Stoppard Bibliography

Compiled by Michael H. Hutchins

"Plays are events rather than texts.  They're written to happen, not to be read." — Tom Stoppard
from an interview with Mel Gussow in the New York Times, 29 July 1979.

Introductory Notes

In addition to a primary and secondary bibliography of the published works of Tom Stoppard,
this website contains information on works that have not been published, and a chronology of
the major events in his life.  Unless otherwise noted, works are listed chronologically
within each section.  All editions are hardcover, unless denoted as a paperback [pb].
Although Faber and Faber editions are occasionally simultaneously published in both Great
Britain and the United States, Stoppard's primary publisher in the US has been Grove Press.

* denotes that the book is currently in print (as of November, 2003).
