    Roor Spotlight Interview
Tuesday, May 11, 2004, Posted by Keith
Here is another Spotlight interview for EmuFanatics. This time around it is on Roor who is best known for his work on AdriPSX and his newest project PS2emu. Here is an introduction and a small tidbit from the interview.

Today we focus our Spotlight on Roor who is best known for his wonderful work with his Playstation emulator AdriPSX and his newest project PS2emu. Roor is a very humble person who doesn't care about being famous or known and usually stays quiet and lets his work speak for himself. He has been a great friend over the years and I am happy he still has the drive and willingness to continue with his great emulation projects.

Are you currently working on any other projects besides PS2emu?
Well, I have my "real-life" job as a software developer, making my own products or working as a third party developer. On the "amateur" projects side, apart from AdriPSX (which I haven't touched for nearly two years), I have two projects. One on Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, which doesn't even have a name yet. And an MMORPG, which is in quite an advanced stage, although the project is lacking of 3d artists, level designers and scripters nowadays. Currently its named Hectorum Online.

You can read the rest of the interview here.

    Scar_T Spotlight Interview
Tuesday, May 11, 2004, Posted by Keith
Want to know more about one of the developers from the PS2emu development team? Well I have done a Spotlight interview for EmuFanatics on Scar_T and should have ones for shunt and Roor up soon. Here is an introduction and small tidbit from the Spotlight Interview.

Today we focus our Spotlight on Scar_T. Scar_T might be new to most people from the scene but I have known him for a long time and he is one of the nicest people I have ever met and always one to be optimistic and upbeat about everything. I am very happy to see him having so much success with PS2emu and hope that continues for a very long time. Now lets get on with the Interview. :)

Could you give us some information regarding the current state of your projects?
Well we are still working in the Dynamic Recompiler, and we are making some parts of the ps2 that hadn't been emulated yet, with that we hope to improve the compatibility.

Head on over to the Spotlight Interview to read the rest.

    PS2emu Alpha 01 Released
Thursday, May 6, 2004, Posted by Keith
Roor, shunt, and Scar_T have decided to show off their latest progress with the first initial alpha release of their PS2 emulator, PS2emu. Keep in mind this is still in the early stages of development and still a work in progress. Keep in mind this is not for playing commercial games and is only to show everyone the latest progress. DYNAMIC RECOMPILERS are less than 10% complete, but the performance is faster than usual because the implementation of a new recompiling technique developed specifically for this project that will allow us superior performance to a normal dynamic recompiler.

I also wanted to let you guys know you will need bios files (SCPH10000.BIN and ROM1.BIN) for PS2emu to function. Please don't ask us where to get these. Be sure to download the plugins from the download section because there is no plugins included in the release file. Currently sound support is untested, and does not support HOST emulation.

If you need any support for PS2emu then feel free to use the forums provided for you located here.

    Very nice work guys!

    New PS2emu Progress :)
Monday, April 19, 2004, Posted by Keith
My buddy Roor has contacted me to let me know that the PS2emu development team is back in action. After 9 months without any activity or development on the project, Roor, shunt, and Scar_T have been working really hard over the past month on improving PS2emu.

Currently The emulator runs the bios and one commercial game, but very slowly (1 fps on a 1ghz Duron). Keep in mind the emulator is still in early development even though it was started awhile ago, because of the inactivity. The one commercial game it currently runs is Bust-A-Move (again I stress slowly). Before people start asking, this is the only commercial game it currently runs. So please do not ask if it runs others or any other type of questions that relates to that.

I am pretty excited to see another PS2 emulator in developement once again and I can't wait to see more progress from this great team.

Here is some screenshots showing the current progress from the past 5 weeks.

    Latest PS2emu Progress
Thursday, September 25, 2003, Posted by Keith
Scar_T one of the lead developers for PS2emu has sent me some very nice screenshots and an update on the current progress of PS2emu. The current release is on hold while the team continues to fix issues and add improvements for the first public release. The team wants to put out a good quality product rather then continuous bug fixes and new releases after something small starts to show.

As you will see from the screenshots some very nice progress has been made in such a short time. PS2emu can now run the bios (with a few bugs), but still does not currently run commercial games. You will also notice they added the site design into their debug gui, which I think is nice touch. ;)

The team would like to thank everyone for their support and promise a release is on the horizon. Now onto the screens, just click the thumbnails for a larger picture.

    PS2emu Revived
Monday, August 25, 2003, Posted by Keith
I am extremely happy and very proud to announce that PS2emu has been revived. Roor, shunt, and Scar_T are the brand new development team behind the all new PS2emu project. The previous project has been scrapped and a whole new one was started about three weeks ago from scratch. So far the development is going very well and they are making fast progress in such little time. Currently PS2emu is still at the early stages of playing Demos and does not play commercial games.

The team wants to make a release sometime this week to show the current progress and to let everyone know what they have done so far. So stay tuned, because it should be released within the next couple days or so. Feel free to reply to this news post to show your support or to leave any other comments. Also don't forget to check out the Official Discussion Forums for PS2emu.

Note: All old content for the previous project have been removed and the site has also moved to this new location. All new screens and releases are on the way so hang tight for a little bit longer.
