NFL Quarterback Club '99 Kicks Off Acclaim Sports' Holiday Season

NFL Quarterback Club '99, NBA Jam '99, and NHL Breakaway '99 Ready to Ship in November

GLEN COVE, N.Y., November 5, 1998 -Acclaim Sports, a division of Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKLM), a leading worldwide interactive entertainment company, announced today the release dates for three of its popular sports brands. NFL Quarterback Club '99 will be shipping November 10th for Nintendo 64, and NBA Jam '99, and NHL Breakaway '99 will ship November 30th for Nintendo 64.

"NFL Quarterback Club 99 arrives November 10th featuring second generation hi-res graphics and improved AI." said Paul Eibeler, vice president and general manager of Acclaim North America. "We held the game back to make sure the product lived up to the high standard we have set for the Acclaim Sports brand. It's definitely worth the wait."

NFL Quarterback Club '99 is the sequel to the top selling N64 sports game of 1997. Featuring an all-new polygonal engine and second generation hi-resolution 640x480 graphics, NFL Quarterback Club '99 is the best looking sports title to ever appear on any gaming console. NFL Quarterback Club '99 features play-by-play and color commentary from national broadcasters Randy Cross and Mike Patrick, and all-new artificial intelligence designed by New York Jets Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis and motion capture by the Jets wide receiver Dedric Ward. The game is endorsed by three-time NFL MVP Brett Favre. NFL Quarterback Club '99 will ship November 10.

"After taking some time off, the strongest brand in basketball video games, NBA Jam, returns to the hardcourt," said Mike Jerchower, product manager for Acclaim Sports. "NBA Jam 99 is now a 5-on-5 simulation and 5-on-5 arcade game featuring all the fast action and over-the-top action that made Jam a household name. Whether you are a hard core stats-hound or a fan of the original arcade series you won't be dissapointed."

The NBA Jam series is one of the most popular sports video game franchises of all time. In NBA Jam '99, the franchise has evolved from a frenetic 2-on-2 arcade-style basketball game to a realistic 5-on-5 simulation including players with smooth skin textures, accurate sizes and attributes and unique signature moves of the NBA's top stars. NBA Jam '99 features commentary from noted NBA analysts Bill Walton and Kevin Harlan and is endorsed by star rookie Keith Van Horn of the NJ Nets, who provided motion capture along with Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Stephon Marbury. As an added feature for the franchise's faithful followers, a separate 5-on-5 "Jam" mode features gravity defying dunks, no fouls, and flaming basketballs when a player is "on fire". NBA Jam '99 ships November 30.

NHL Breakaway '99 is the sequel to last year's critically praised Nintendo 64 game. Endorsed by 1998 Stanley Cup MVP and Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman, NHL Breakaway '99 has all 27 NHL¨ teams including the expansion Nashville Predators and over 600 players from the NHLPA, as well as real-life ice textures, arena names and scouting reports written by Yzerman. A "momentum based checking system" takes individual player weights and speed into account to create authentic checking contacts. Acclaim Sport's unique "total team management" system gives gamers more complete control over the future of their team, awarding points for wins and goals which can be traded for improved coaching, player development options, injury therapies and more. Like NBA Jam '99, NHL Breakaway '99 ships November 30.

"This year we have had tremendous success with the our sport titles including All-Star Baseball 99, Jeremy McGrath SuperCross 98 and WWF War Zone." Said Eibeler. "NFL Quarterback Club 99, NBA Jam 99, and NHL Breakaway 99 further our commitment to creating the best games in the sports category."

All three titles are supported by national television, radio, print, on-line advertising and in store merchandising. The NFL Quarterback Club TV campaign kicks off with spots during this week's ESPN Sunday Night Football and ABC's Monday Night Football broadcasts.
