Code of Conduct - or The Edicts

I. Treat the services offered by skyehawke dot com :: archives in good faith.

II. Idealist that we are, we want skyehawke dot com :: archives to be a resource for well written fiction.

III. We know that 'well written' is subjective. That's why all registered users have equal rights.

    (a) Except for the administrators and the owner of the site.
    (b) The administrators are deities. The owner of the site is the Creator.
      i. But the original code was created by IO Designs.
    (c) Chocolates are adequate bribes.
    (d) It's part of the rules that the administrators and owner will not bite if a reasonable request is made.
      ii. Nibble maybe.

IV. All registered users can create new accounts.

V. We ask that registered users do not invite their best friend, girl/boy/fluffy werewolf they met, strange person down the street (etc) unless said person has previously written a piece of fiction (or non-fiction) that is 'well written').

    (a) 'Well written' is not defined because it is a subjective term.
    (b) But it would be nice if grammer, spelling and sentence structure was 99% correct.
      i. The 1% is because even the best beta readers/spell checks miss a few.
ii. We're not going to actually calculate that 1% error rate - we'll assume it, because, as we said in [I], 'in good faith'.

VI. We ask that registered users not create new accounts for potential users who have not already written at least one piece of fiction/non-fiction they are willing to post up. There really is no reason to have a registered account at skyehawke dot com :: archives unless you want to post something.
    (a) There are exceptions to this request - mostly in regards to first wave account users.
    (b) If you ask, we'll explain it.
    (c) It makes sense in the owner's head anyway.

VII. Reviewing and constructive criticism is good for the soul and gives you karma points.
    (a) The distinction between flames and constructive criticism is fairly large.
    (b) For one thing, nobody ever takes flames seriously.
    (c) No really. Ask any writer.

VIII. skyehawke dot com :: archives is a community (even if it's a closed one). There are probably 'lots of bugs'.
    (a) Tell the administators. Loudly - otherwise nothing will be done.
      i. Just because the administrators are deities doesn't mean they actually 'know all' (we resemble the Greek gods - fallible if very powerful and more interested in transforming into cool creatures than using lightning on the unworthy).
ii. Except for Tien Riu. But only because dragons aren't part of Greek mythology.
    (b) Help make skyehawke dot com :: archives into a community that we can all be proud of being a part of.
      i. The owner is an idealist - the rest of us are realist. We're working on that problem.
      ii. With mallets.
iii. The owner's head is rather hard. We're thinking of using large pianos next.
