We would like to express our deepest condolences to the deceased and the bereaved families over the accident which occurred at our Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 on August 9, 2004, and pray for the fast recovery of those under treatment who were injured.

We also sincerely apologize to all of the local residents as well as the great many people concerned, for causing such trouble and inconvenience.

We wish to clearly state that no radioactivity was released to the surrounding environment due to the accident.

With profound remorse over the accident, we will do our utmost to investigate the cause and take every countermeasure to avoid any repetition of similar accidents.
