DLL Help Database

This database contains information about DLL files that are included with selected Microsoft products.

DLL Help exists to help developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals who face file version conflicts with Microsoft software. Use DLL Help to identify the software that installed a specific version of a DLL file.

Note This tool does not provide direct links to download the files listed in the database. DLL files are generally not available for download from Microsoft. To find downloadable files, try the Microsoft Download Center. For help using the tool, click Help/FAQ below.

To search for a DLL, select By File Only, By Product Only, or By Product + File in the Search box. Select the appropriate language in the Language box.

Searching by Product and File

Searching by product and file returns all versions of a particular file that is included with a particular product. In the Search box, select By Product + File, and the Language, Product, Version, and File Name boxes appear. Select (or type) the information in the four boxes and then click the Submit button to display the information in the right side top frame. Wildcard character search for the file names can be performed. To do this, give at least one letter followed by an asterisk (*). Prefix and suffix wildcard character searching are supported.

The File Name, Version, More Info, and Description fields are returned in the search results. The More Info link displays a page that includes the parent file name that the DLL belongs to with file date, size, package information, and path.
