your questions. my answers. (ask me something)

What 5 words best describe you?
- Blaxthos
FreeBSD, because it's become such a large part of my life. If I'm not writing applications to run on it, I'm promoting it. Sad, because it seems no matter at what point of life I've been at, there's always been something to make me depressed. It's not necessarily a bad thing. I like being sad. It's better than feeling nothing at all. Writer, because that's what I want to be When I Grow Up (tm). Opinionated, and that really needs no explanation. Hell, read the blog. Proper, which I didn't even really know I was until I met Mike. I'm very picky about manners, social graces, etc - although you wouldn't know it by reading the blog. I would have been fabulous in high society. Damn blue bloods.
I was wondering how long you've been online and how old you are.
- Paul
I was born September 8th, 1981. At the time of writing this, that makes me 23. I've been online sa far as BBS's go since I was 12, and I've been on the internet since I was 14 and my step sister got an AOL account. I lived out in the middle of nowhere, and even AOL was long distance, so it was all that was available to me until I was 16.
What part(s) of the goth style appeal/don't appeal to you, and why did you go goth?
mov
I would definitely not call myself goth. Not at all. I do dress up moderately goth sometimes, but that's because I like corsets and velvet, and black makes my skin look good. I'm naturally about as pale as it gets without being an albino. I love old fashioned clothing such as velvet dresses and whale boned corsets though. The are so extremely feminine, they make me feel good about the way I look.
Which Snow Crash character is, in your opinion, the coolest one, and why?
mov
God, it's been so long since I've read that book. Not Hiro, but the chick. The one that sleeps with the hardcore dude. I'm not sure why I like her. Hm. I'll re-read the book tonight.
If you could describe your life and where you hope it would take you in the future by creating a work of art: a painting - what would the painting look like and why? :-)
- faith
It would be something so abstract, it would make people blink and look away. I don't want anything normal. I don't want something other people could possibly understand. I just want to go where life takes me, and I'm sure that's going to be somewhere unconventional. Once before, I compared my life to a car accident on I-285. Traffic slows down for no reason at all so people can gawk at the chaos. That's where I'm at right now, I think. Fortunately, it's not fatal.
When is the code section going to be up? I am interested in seeing what neat little things you wrote.
- X-Istence
Probably never. I decided I don't really like distributing my code. Maybe when I think I'm a better coder; I'm not sure.
Will you submit to my desires?
- Master
Only if your desires involve giving me hardware, alcohol, and/or money. Anything else is probably out of the question.
will you marry me?
- dcollect
No.
why do you have 80 pictures of yourself?
- danks
Because those 80 pictures span about 7 years. :)
whereabouts do you IRC? :)
- Accident
UnderNet: #codehozers, #c, #coders, #openbsd, #freebsd, #freebsd-ot, #ubixos, #learnjapanese, #hackphreak. EFNet: #plan9, #freebsdhelp, #atlrave
What's with the variety of over- and under- exposed cam-whore photos?
- Hieronymus Bosch
Most of the pictures are from years ago. I went through my cam-whore phase, sure. I don't take many pictures of myself anymore, at all. I played with them in photoshop because I used to have a horribly low self esteem, and I thought I was ugly. To borrow a quote, "anyone can look good in 640x480 in black and white".
why the fuck you pretend to be a girl from a freebsd community if you are a incopetent little bastard without knowledge of computer science??? go to look for a husband and marry soon!!!
- foo
I think you forgot your turban at home. I live in the US. I don't have to have a husband to mean something. Apparently you can't read all that well either. I had a husband, and I divorced him. Marriage ain't all it's cracked up to be. As far as my technical knowledge goes - that's an arguement I've fought one too many times. Troll. :)
Who on IRC could you do without and why?
- sherbert
Hm. #freebsd/efnet, because they are wankers.
What happened to your old homepage?
- mm
Which one? I still have a LiveJournal, although I have not updated it since I started with freebsdgirl. sektorgrl.net was run off of my DSL line, and it was getting way too much traffic, so I just got my own server and started a new site.
Do you believe in ghosts?
- north_
Definitely. I used to live in an old farmhouse, and I would hear things all the time. I still have a lot of the beliefs I had when I was a kid. Most people grow out of it; I don't think I ever will. I'd rather be openminded and be wrong than have no spark of imagination whatsoever.
Ever deep throat a kielbasa?
- jay bizzle
wtf is a kielbasa? No.
When you put the new roll of toilet paper on the spinner thing, do you make it roll over the top or underneath? People who do underneath should be hunted and killed.
- Dial_tone
I used to live with people that were totally psychotic about making it roll underneath, so most of the time I still roll it underneath. Really though, I don't care. It's toilet paper. I don't see what the big deal is.
Do you dance?
- TCA
I'm fierce with glowsticks. I tried to dance on NYE, but it was a horrible disaster. You can take the kid out of the rave, but you can't take the raver out of the kid.
If you were a guy for 24 hours, what would you be doing?
- nicolas
Things not suitable to be writing about on a site read by my coworkers and relatives.
Do girls find guys with numbers in their nicknames sexy?
- six502
Well, no. But I'm dating one, anyways. It does kind of give the bad-boy-rebel appearance, but you also risk having the aol-tard look as well.
How many kids do you have?
- tehkevn
Two. My firstborn is Victoria, and she was adopted by friends. Nathan is my son, and Chad is the father of both children.
What force of nature do you most closely resemble yourself with?
- TCA
The winter clearance sale at a Victoria's Secret. I leave destruction, angry women, and confused men huddled in the corner wherever I go.
What was the most influential decision you made which you now regret?
- TCA
Getting on IRC. Heh, just kidding. I've never really made any decisions that I regret now. I wish I hadn't let the relationship with James drag on so long, I suppose, but our experiences shape who we are now. I'm pretty happy with who I am, so regret just isn't a part of my life.
Describe the computer you would have sex with.
- n0ir
Um, I wouldn't have sex with a computer. Get a girlfriend.
What's the worst thing someone has ever told you?
- Anonymous
Once someone I was dating told me I wasn't driven. I think he was just jealous because I made more money than him.
