Description:
|
Wimbledon is one of the most select residential areas in London. Its inhabitants tend to be wealthier than most, with those that need to work doing so mainly in the more elite occupations. About 25% involve themselves in manual trades, and only 7% of accommodation is rented from the council. Wimbledon village exists on little industry other than brasseries and antique shops, whilst to the east are found the real shops and a sizable population of ethnic minorities. Tennis apart, Wimbledon is famous for its Common and environmentally-friendly Womble community..
