Vijayanagara empire rock inscription found

OCT. 26.
A rock inscription, believed to be of Vijayanagara empire, has been discovered at Kadimetla village in Yemmiganur mandal of Kurnool district.
G. Venkateswarlu, a research scholar of Sri Potti Sriramulu University School of History, Culture and Archaeology at Srisailam, who scanned the village as part of the research project, came across the inscription abandoned in a field.
The script is close to Kannada and Telugu.
Also, the scholar found two neolithic sites and collected two stone axes, a lid of the pot with an ornamental elephant figure, terrakotta beads, broken shells, glass, bangles and pot used for melting metals.
Particular pattern
Polished and coarse broken pottery, baked bricks, bones, ash mound were also found, arranged in a particular pattern in the sub-soil.
Chenna Reddy, Dean of the university, said they were planning to visit the site next month for more details.
