The Emerald City Cyclocross Series wrapped up another fabulous season December 5th at North SeaTac. On a cold and muddy day befitting the first week of December 330 riders contested the final race of this year's series. With double points on the line the stakes were high and the racing intense. Congratulations to all our champions and thank you to each of the 797 racers that made it out to one or more of our events. We are especially appreciative of our sponsor's support this year - Thank You!

- Welcome new MVA Board members!
The Marymoor Velodrome Association held it's annual election meeting on October 19th. Four directors were elected to two year terms. The newly elected directors are Laura Moen, Tye Howell, Cole Coleman and John Fischer. Continuing on are Jerry Baker, Dave Mann, and Hyun Lee. A big thanks to all who ran for the board or considered running for the board. In this period of growth we'd like to remind everybody that anyone make a big impact on our programs by just stepping up and helping out - whether they you are a director or not.
- Cyclocross practice at the Group Health Velodrome
Once again Stiff Wick Productions will be putting on cyclocross practices at the 'drome on Wednesday nights. The sessions run from 6:30 to 8:30 every Wednesday from September 8th through December 1st. Local standouts Russell Stevenson and Dale Knapp will lead riders through warm-up, stretching, skill drills and a practice race. Cost is $10 per session, $5 for juniors. Season passes available. Contact Wick for more details - 206-824-7666.
- Track season wraps up
It's been a great season of racing at the Group Health Friday Night Track Racing series. The final week of racing was very exciting with all the top contenders fighting to hold or improve their standings in the overall series. In the Cat 1,2 field Kenny Williams maintained his almost insurmountable lead to finish first. Amy Wallace held off a charging Amara Boursaw for the win. And in the closest finish of the series - Brad Lewis barely edged out rising star Todd Schroeder in the Cat 3 field. We would like to thank all who made this series a success - the racers, our volunteers, our spectators, and especially our sponsors - Group Health, Gregg's Cycles, Sports Etc. & New Belgium Brewing. See you in the spring!
As many of our members know, the Marymoor Velodrome Association functions only through the efforts of our volunteer workforce. We are currently in need of additional volunteers to help run many existing and developing programs. Among other things, we have immediate needs for data entry help, page design, and all aspects of running our racing and training events. E-mail Harley Sheffield if you can contribute.
- Announcing the Group Health Velodrome!
We are very proud to announce a new cycling partnership between Group Health Cooperative and King County Parks. The recently signed agreement includes naming rights for the velodrome and title sponsorship of our Friday Night Racing series for at least the next three years. It's a great investment in our cycling community and a re-affirmation of the value of our velodrome as a regional asset. Thank you to all involved in this effort - and a huge thank you to Group Health! For all the details, see the press releases at Group Health Cooperative and King County Parks.
