As we suggested earlier, the Icelandic final will take place at February 15. From the 190 submitted songs, 15 will be selected for the national final Songvakeppnin 2003.
According to Kato Hansen, head of OGAE Norway, the Icelandic broadcaster RÚV is searching for a venue to hold the national final, but the possibility to organise it in the television studio has not been ruled out.

With the song Angel Iceland did not manage to bring enough points together to participate in 2002 again, but for 2003 they are back in the contest. Iceland was drawn for the first start position.

I think it's not too smart a move from RUV to force everyone to sing in Icelandic in the national heat. A song can sound superb in one language and fall flat in another one, so it's better if televoters know in advance which version would be used in the ESC... But I disagree that Iceland should have been a boring country in the past! Icelandic entries are great, and, sadly, very underrated most of the times...

Iceland needs a strong singer or group this year. It MUST be sung in English to gain points. Denmark is not here this year to give them 12 points ( though they only gave Iceland 2 points in 2001).
Seeing as they weill sing first in 2003, they can still win because when the song previews get played they will go in reverse order so icelands song will be shown first.
It will be good if selma sung in 2003, she is teriffic.
GO ICELAND!!!!!!

May I suggest that Iceland should send something less boring this time? And I'd be pleased if you'd stick to Icelandic, I preferred 'Birtha' a lot to 'Angel', it was only as half as boring...
