The country that will open the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, Iceland, presented the national final songs this evening. 15 songs, selected out of 190 entries, will be performed at Songvakeppnin 2003 on February 15th.
Between the participants the name of Birgitta Haukdal can be found. She also participated in the national final of 2001. The most remarkable song title might be Eurovísa.

Broadcaster RÚV clearly wants to make the Eurovision Song Contest and the national final more popular. They chose the cinema and concert venue Háskólabíó as the location for Songvakeppnin 2003, instead the RÚV studio where the event took place in the past years.

Check out the song titles and performers at the Iceland 2003 page!

I've heard all the songs apart from Þú, which Hreimur sings. I've was just now watching the two last songs, "Ferrari" and "Hvar sem ég enda" in the TV. I liked them both! Ferrari is a bit different song but I like it.
There are lots of great song there!
I can't wait until the februar 15th!

I'm just sorry to see no Selma in there... Those rumours really had me excited. But Icelandic finals are often stable enough to produce smt strong enough to do reasonably well in Riga... Heja, Island!

The battle for the victory will surely include Birgitta Haukdal & Botnleðja. Personally I would not mind seeing Birgitta Haukdal singing for Iceland in Riga. She is a talented singer.
