Alison Steadman

Alison Steadman was born on August 26th 1946 and currently lives in Highgate. She is very fond of the area, mainly as there are so many nice places to walk her dog, such as Highgate Woods or Kenwood in Hampstead Heath. She also enjoys visiting the local antiques shops around Highgate and has been known to pop in the local pub for an occasional tipple.

She trained as an actress at the East 15 acting school, and 1968 saw her on stage for the first time. She took the lead role in 'Abigail's Party' successfully from the stage to the screen, and has spent a lot of time in America in the programme 'The Singing Detective'.

Alison also has appeared in Pride and Predijuce as Mrs Bennet, and was recently in Entertaining Mr Sloane at the Arts Theatre in London.
