Among adults 18-49 NBC won with a 2.8 rating. ABC moved up to second in the important demographic with a 2.2 rating, followed by CBS' 1.9 rating and the 1.6 rating for FOX. The WB stayed fifth with a 1.4, better than the 1.1 rating for UPN.

NBC swept the night, beginning with the 6.5/12 for "Dateline." CBS was second for the 8 p.m. hour with the 5.0/9 for "Joan of Arcadia." ABC's "8 Simple Rules" and "Complete Savages" averaged a 4.4/8 for third. FOX was fourth with reairings of "Totally Outrageous Behavior" and "World's Craziest Videos." On UPN, "Enterprise" had a 1.9/4 and edged "What I Like About You" and "Grounded for Life" on The WB.

"Third Watch" gave NBC a 6.4/11 for the 8 p.m. hour for an easy win over CBS' heavily hyped "Genius: A Night For Ray Charles," which had only a 5.5/10. ABC's "Hope & Faith" and "Less Than Perfect" kept the network in third. FOX viewers weren't interested in following "America's Most Wanted" to Fridays, as the show did only a 3.0/5. Two episode of "Reba" averaged a 2.9/5 for The WB and topped UPN's "America's Next Top Model" reairing.
