Marilyn Manson has finished filming the video for "The Fight Song," the second single from Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), at an abandoned Los Angeles football field, according to a spokesperson at Interscope Records.
The video, directed by Wiz and Marilyn Manson, features a team of jocks battling a team of goth rockers a possible commentary on the 1999 Columbine High School tragedy in Littleton, Colorado, where outcast teens Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris gunned down several of their fellow students before killing themselves.
Manson's music initially was blamed by some for inciting the tragedy, though later it turned out that neither student had been a fan of Manson, born Brian Warner.
The spokesperson at Interscope, Manson's label since his career began in 1994, said she was unaware of any Columbine parallels in the video.
Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), released November 14, also includes the single "Disposable Teens", which Marilyn Manson performed at MTV's New Year's Eve celebration, along with a cover of Cheap Trick's "Surrender."
In other Marilyn Manson news, the band was unexpectedly nominated for the Best Metal Performance Grammy on Wednesday (January 3) for the song "Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes", from MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch soundtrack.
