Both marathon participants and community families are encouraged to visit the Expo. Iin fact, as part of "Lighten Up Dallas," the Mayor's fitness challenge, Dallas' Mayor Laura Miller is hosting the second annual "Mayor's Race 5K Fun Run and Walk" the morning of the Expo. The event is just a block away from the Marathon Fitness Expo at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.

There is no packet pickup or registration on race day. All packets must be picked up at the Expo at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. Packets will not be mailed to participants. Late registration will also be available at the Expo.

Click here to visit the Belo Expo website for full details on the 2004 Marathon Fitness Expo.

Transportation to the Expo: Ride DART Rail

Our strongest suggestion for persons living in Dallas is to take DART rail to the Expo. There is a DART station next to the Hyatt (Union Station), and to get from the station to the Hyatt you only need to take a brief walk through a connecting tunnel.

Here's what you need to know to use DART to get to the Expo. Note: you may want to print these instructions as well as the maps/links and take them with you to help you remember answer to questions such as what type of rail pass to purchase or what station to exit.

  1. Find the DART rail station that is most convenient to you.
  2. When you arrive at your station, purchase your rail ticket
    • Purchase a "Local Day Pass" ($2.50/cash only/exact change suggested but not required) from a ticket vending machine, good for round-trip service ("Single Ride" or "Rail Only" will not allow enough time for your entire expo visit - do not choose these options)
    • You can purchase a "Reduced Local Day Pass" ($1) for children between 5 and 14, high school students, seniors 65, disabled persons or Medicare card holders. Children under 5 can ride free with an adult.
  3. Ride the rail to the Union Station located at the Hyatt and enter the Hyatt through the marked tunnel
  4. Do this in reverse to get back to your car!
  5. Want help to figure out the most convenient route? Call DART at 214-979-1111. They're the experts and are more than happy to help!!!
