The First Campus Community Radio Station in Toronto

After five years of broadcasting within Ryerson University, CKLN received its FM license from the CRTC in 1983. Our mandate to provide a voice for the various communities, music and arts, that are not represented in mainstream media.

Broadcasting from the Ryerson campus with 250 watts, and available in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding communities; CKLN has become one of the most respected radio stations in Canada.

NOW Magazine readers voted CKLN "runner up" to the best radio station in Toronto in 2003. Out of all Toronto's radio stations, including corporate and CBC heavies, only the Edge beat out CKLN.

Canadian Music Week honoured CKLN as Canada's BEST campus-community station in 2001.

88.1 FM was voted the best radio station in Toronto for three years by the Toronto Star in their annual critics poll. The Toronto Star also called CKLN "perhaps the most innovative station in Toronto" in another article.

Details magazine (based in New York city) voted CKLN one of North America's top radio stations in a 1991 issue.
