Makers of authentic period tents

Welcome to the TENTSMITHS website, makers of historical period tents. As you look around this website you will discover that our line of canvas tents are not for everyone. We carefully construct well researched tents for museums, movies, re-enactors, and hunting camps. We have performed this service for over twenty years and are known for our historical accuracy and uncompromising attention to detail. No-one, anywhere builds historic tents matching our quality standards although our catalog of tents is used throughout the industry as a research document. Our background is in engineering, our passion is in research and our personalities obsessed with perfectionism. We have built tents for such prestigious establishments as the Smithsonian, Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, Valley Forge and Fortress Louisbourg. The movie industry has used our tents for "Last of the Mohicans", "Broken Chain", "Major Payne", "Road to Wellville", "The Crucible", A&E's "The Crossing", "The Patriot", and "The Alamo".

You have found our site at a wonderful time in TENTSMITHS history. For the first time, we have entered our busiest season with many standard tents in stock for immediate delivery. Careful planning, not higher construction speed, has allowed this to take place. You will also find an ever growing collection of WWII tents not available anywhere else. Our commitment to light weight expedition tents is stronger than ever. Our no-compromise position on fabrics and techniques produce tents able to weather any environment.

Our online catalog has been updated with many new color pictures. If you do not see what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to email us or give us a call at the shop. We'll be more than happy to talk with you and address your individual needs. All of our tents are quality products made in Conway, New Hampshire.
