You’ll find the labels to the songs on the left hand of the alphabetic pages. A list of the labels is at the top of each page. I have incorporated for the start 78 rpm labels plus the available Master Record labels. Omitted are those Master Records which have no labels. These are just blank records with the matrix number inscribed in white ink or not inscribed at all. For more information on 78 rpm look here.
If you click on the label it will enlarge in a new Browser window. To get back just close that window.
I am sure I have not been able to get pictures of all published 78rpm records. If you have one which is not listed here just send me the label as a jpeg plus all the information you have and I will add it to the list.

The lyrics printed here are for private use only. They are have been carefully checked with the original sheet music from the files of Marlene Dietrich Collection Berlin. They also have been cross-checked with the way Marlene sang them in a movie or at a show.
However there may be mistakes. If you think something is wrong with the lyrics just let me know. Please bear in mind that it has taken a long time to compile these lyrics. Make sure that you have the right information and cross-check it in advance.
A list of the lyrics is in the columns that follow. There is no individual list within the alpabetic sites. But you can browse through the alpabet and get back here from each individual side.
More lyrics may be added in the future. If you have some at hand, please send them and help this site to become complete.

78 RPM
I am sure that different colours or a different design of the labels by the same record company for  the same song have a meaning. Is it a different country, a different year? What makes RCA-Victor different to Victor? I am not a specialist in identifying 78 rpm labels. But maybe one of you is and you can clear up all these mysteries. Please do...

Before 78rpm records were printed on cylinders. But when Marlene began her career cylinders were way out of date. But when did 78 end? Here is a short line-up of what I have found on the Net:

The end of 78rpm
In 1948 RCA introduced the 45 rpm record which was only 7" in diameter. This new records had a lot advantage against the 78 rpm. It was smaller, lighter, not as breakable and had a better sound quality. From now on the 78 rpm record slowly died. In general the big companies stopped producing 78 rpm's in 1958, some small companies carried on to 1960. In South Africa 78 rpm records were produced up to 1962, in India up to 1967! This resolves from the fact that in these countries electricity was not a common standard like in the U.S.A. or Europe.
