RESEARCH INTERESTS
Main research thrust
My core research interest lies in the new sub-discipline of urban biogeography, interfacing with urban forestry and urban greening, urban design and landscape planning, soil science, and environmental impacts of recreation and tourism, with a geographical focus on Hong Kong and the south China region.
My research orbit is distinctly interdisciplinary, as exemplified by the wide range of journals that have published my papers, encompassing the disciplines of geography, forestry, arboriculture, ecology, planning, soil science, earth science, environmental conservation and environmental management.

PhD AND MPhil STUDIES AND FUNDING SUPPORT
Local and overseas students who would like to enquire about admission as my research students should in the first instance read our Graduate School website at http://www.hku.hk/gradsch for general information on admission to our PhD and MPhil research degrees programme and financial support.
Please read my research interests listed above to see whether I am a suitable supervisor for your proposed project.
You should then proceed to write a preliminary research proposal of about 2000 words to include the following sections: broad field of research, research objectives, research scope, suggested study area (if applicable), suggested main research methods, suggested contribution to knowledge, possible applications of research findings, and at least ten pertinent references.
The research proposal should be sent to me via email at hragjcy@hkucc.hku.hk for my comments before it is attached to your application forms.
Please let me know via email if you wish to discuss the proposal with me or require additional information.
