Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
by Online Shopper Jun. 29 2005
Comments:
The EOS Digital Rebel XT is Canon's latest, and in my opinion, best Digtal SLR camera for under $1,000. It
certainly has the quality of a camera of over $1,000, and all the features that you'd expect to see in a
higher-end camera. A very high resolution, a multitude of options, a sturdy body, support for dozens of
Canon's high-end lenses, and a powerful automatice mode for true point-and-shoot capability. One thing
that surprised me was that the manual is actually readable and very detailed, and is thus actually useful,
unlike many manuals that accompany many products these days. My only gripe is that like most LCDs, it
washes out in sunlight very easily, and it's buttons can be confusing to someone who hasn't learned the
camera or read the manual.
Pros: Great price for quality. Quick bootup.
Cons: Buttons can be confusing, LCD washes out very easily

The Markets best DSLR for under $1000!

The EOS Digital Rebel XT is Canon's is a nice update to the original Canon EOS Digital Rebel, and in my opinion, best Digital SLR camera for under $1,000. It
certainly has the quality of a camera of over $1,000, and all the features that you'd expect to see in a higher-end camera. If you want a larger grip for the camera you can buy Canon's BG E-3 battery grip. It adds a nice balance to the camera and in addition holds two Canon batteries! This is a very high resolution, a multitude of options, a sturdy body, support for dozens of Canon’s high-end lenses, and a powerful automatic mode for true point-and-shoot capability.
This is by far the best bang for the buck in the DSLR market. I have a friend who is a professional photographer (high end old school film) and she was blown away with its feature set and options.
A great camera at a great price! Walmart.com is selling it for 899.99.
Pros: Incredible value w/ features of camera's that cost twice!
Cons: LCD a little hard to read in Sunlight

Highly Recommended
by Rur Apr. 29 2005
Comments:
This camera is a must have over the previous EOS 300. It is much lighter in weight and compacted. Fits easily onto your palm. Picture quality output is terrific, however, the viefinder is a bit too dim and the full auto shoot mode gives a 'peachish' tint. I presume this will be corrected with updated firmware.
Pros: Light weight, 8.2m pixel, noise free pictures upto ISO400
Cons: poor flash coverage area, plastic body
Recommended: Yes

Canon Rebel XT pro &con;
by Online Shopper Jun. 28 2005
Comments:
I have used film SLR's since the sixties and the digital Canon rebel XT is even better than film SLR especially when used with GOOD editing software. No more film or chemicals to buy. I did have a darkroom and now have a lightroom. The lightroom is much cleaner and easier to use.
Pros: It is an extremely good SLR.
Cons: As with all digital cameras, I wish it cost less.
Recommended: Yes

I have taken this camera with me to Iceland. It was versatile and easy to use. It fit in the pocket of my backpack and went with me everwhere. It has a number of options to pick from depending on whether what you want to photograph is nearby or far away. Wonderful camera.
Pros: Easy to learn to use, sharp photos, easy to customize photos
Cons: Other smaller easier to carry cameras are an alternative
Recommended: Yes

Unfamiliar with it's many uses
by Steve Aug. 19 2005
Comments:
Is there a place on the internet that can explain the camera's potential....
The manual is not made for a novice.
The different codes in the set-up and what it does would help...
It should be made for someone who is not a professional.
Could you help....
The following answers in the items below are not really available to answer truthfully untill I can use the camera correctly..
P.S. I had a 2 Canon camera's while in the Military...1970's : the canon FT QL...which I loved to use because of the way it was made and the ease of use.
Later I purchased the Canon F1 with motor drive and lens...had some trouble with the use but overcame what I did not understand...this is why I went with the Canon Rebel XT...I beleived in the Canon...
I used the Olympus 750 and was going to purchase the one of theirs but read into the Canon Rebel XT.
Pros: If I were a pro, I could give you a lot of info....
Cons: The basic manual is hard to understand....
