Jungle Boy Training Camp Update

Camp has been fun. I feel like I have already learned a lot. The first
time sparring with Tarver was a wild experience. He is so good it’s hard
to do anything to him. I think the first day of sparring was to see if
I was up to par to hang in there with the Champ because it was some
hard sparing. I did impress the onlookers and was able to win some respect
for my efforts. They said I was better than they thought I would be
since I came from Minnesota. I was able to get some one-on –one time with
Buddy McGirt, Tarver’s trainer, and that helped me out a lot. He made
some minor corrections to my style that made a huge difference. I did
much better sparring the second time around.

I got two room mates that are also sparring partners of Tarver. One is
from Brazil and the other is from The Virgin Islands. I still am blown
away that they picked me to come down here. They got me with two
foreigners, how does a Minnesotan fit in to that equation. The gym were we
work out is definitely were champions are made, in the first week I have
met a 1996 bronze medalist, Arturo Gatti, and other title holders.
There are numerous pictures scattered around on the walls of other boxers
McGirt has helped along the way.

Being around the best has pushed me to hold myself to a higher standard
of boxing. I can’t wait to hit the ring again!

I’ll let you know more when in get a chance. My internet connection is
being funky and only works when it wants to so the updates may vary.

Take care and I’ll see you all later.
