Local Transport Plan 2006 - 2011

Transport is an essential part of life in Rutland. However, our travel choices can also have undesired impacts, on our environment, our health, the safety of our communities and the viability of our local services.

The Local Transport Plan (LTP) is the Council’s strategy for improving transport for all – pedestrians, cyclists, buses, trains, taxis, cars and freight – in a way that supports the economic, social and environmental aims of the County. It also sets out schemes and initiatives that it will progress.

The first plan, produced in July 2000, runs until April 2006. Work is now being undertaken to produce the next five-year plan. A provisional plan was submitted to government in July 2005 which included strategies for the long-term provision of transport (to 2016) in the County. The full plan, to be submitted by March 2006, will contain final programmes for implementation and targets against which to monitor progress.

The Provisional Local Transport Plan and a summary leaflet can be downloaded below. Alternatively they are available to view at any of the County's libraries or the Council offices.

Consultation on the final LTP will take place towards the end of 2005.
