Organisation Restructured but Programs Continue

In September 2003, Environment minister Bob Debus announced that a number of separate agencies within the NSW environment portfolio were being consolidated to create a new Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). The new department incorporates the staff of the Environment Protection Authority (EPA), National Parks and Wildlife Service, Resource NSW and Botanic Gardens Trust. The DEC also has strong links to the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA), which remains a separate organisation. The department is headed up by Ms Lisa Corbyn who was the Director-General of the EPA.
