RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENT FOR CROFTON HAMMOND JUNIOR SCHOOL   Now that HMS Endurance has returned home, we can reveal the results of the Science experiment set for the Ship's Company by children from Crofton Hammond Junior School in Stubbington. The experiment was to find out if runner beans grew the opposite way round a pole in the Southern Hemisphere, compared to the direction of the runner beans being grown by the children of Crofton Hammond, who are in the Northern Hemisphere. After HMS Endurance sailed past the Equator, the beans were planted but unfortunately only two plants began to grow. The results of the experiment have sadly proved to be inconclusive as one bean plant grew clockwise and the other, anti-clockwise.
