Biography:

Born in Coatbridge in 1963, Elaine Smith obtained an Honours degree in Social Science (Economics and Politics). She has also obtained Post Graduate Teacher Training (Secondary), Modern Studies and Economics (Merit) and Diploma in Public Sector Management (Merit).

She has taught in various schools, worked in local government and the voluntary sector and is a member of the T&G union and General Teaching Council.

Elaine is married to Vann and has a son.
