RobotWorld is an integrated automation workcell, including
chassis, motor drive surface (platen), up to six independent "modules" and
the ORC networked motion control server. The stress-relieved,
steel frame weldment supports the platen in precise alignment
with the tool mounting plate. Addition of end-of-arm tooling,
component feeding and application programming provides a complete
automation solution for many requirements.
CM6200 Mobile camera module for part location and
inspection. Integrated high-speed vision option allows for
easy implementation and fast cycle times.
RM6210 Four-axis manipulator for
pick and place. Includes integrated I/O and pneumatics. Optional
on-board vacuum generator.
TM6200 Two-axis tooling module for user-defined
end effectors.
TM6200GT Two-axis tooling module with GridTrac
position feedback system for higher performance and positioning
precision.
Open Robot Controller (ORC)
The heart of RobotWorld's open architecture, client-server design.
The ORC optimizes performance of multiple X-Y motors in concurrent
operation while providing a standard network connection (Ethernet)
to Windows NTÜ or UNIX application client platforms. Expansion options
include plug-in modules for up to six heads and controls for hundreds
of I/O.
Application Client Software
Application Client Software, available for Windows NT or UNIX,
supports process sequencing, user interface, database, vision and
other application-specific functions of RobotWorld cell. The standard
environment permits use of commercially available tools for application
development and deployment.
GridTrac
Optical sensors on the X-Y motor reference the platen surface,
providing feedback of X-Y motor position and rotation. The patented
GridTrac system allows the motor to operate as a brushless DC servo,
with improved dynamic performance and precision. Motor rotation
on the platen may be actively controlled, providing approximately
3 degrees of rotation for precision alignment.
Planar Motor Operation
Riding on a frictionless air bearing, the planar motor moves anywhere
on the platen surface. Permanent magnets within the motor provide
strong attraction between the motor and the steel platen. All active
elements of the motor are contained within the head; the platen
is passive. This permits multiple heads to operate independently
within the shared area. No friction means no wear...RobotWorld is
virtually maintenance-free, providing years of optimum performance
under demanding conditions.
OEM Applications
OEM
applications benefit from RobotWorld's solid-state design...no complex
transport mechanics to design, assemble or maintain with your product;
preventive maintenance of belts, ways, bearings, and linkages is
eliminated; equipment throughput can be upgraded by simply adding
an additional head; and the low force drive system is inherently
safe. Motoman's RobotWorld technical team works closely with your
equipment design staff to provide a complete positioning subsystem
to meet your product specifications. Your customers will enjoy the
benefits of planar drive technology through optimized, custom-engineered
solutions or with our extensive line of standard products. Consulting
with our staff early in your product definition phase optimizes
the results in performance, cost and level of integration with your
process.
System Integration
RobotWorld is an ideal platform for many high throughput automation
applications that require flexibility to meet product variations
and/or product mix. Motoman offers application development tools
to simplify and speed the process of integration for end users and
system integrators. Call on our experts to review your requirements.
