MaddenedMoms.com is a website created to help those who have been scammed and those who are considering giving money to this business understand the nightmare that is doing business with Modern Mom and dealing with its owner Lolita Carrico. Please take a moment to leave a note about yourself and how you found us in our guest book, and consider signing our petition to stop Modern Mom.
If you are visiting this website for the first time, you’re undoubtedly wondering what all the fuss is about. This website contains extensive documentation for our claims as well as a site map and faq to help you find what you are looking for.
In April of 2005, advertisements began appearing on bargain
message boards across the internet promoting Modern Moms Clubs. These advertisements offered a $200 Mothers
Day gift bag with a paid $35 membership and provided a link to the Modern Mom
website showing pictures of what would be provided in these gift bags. Nowhere was it indicated that supplies were
limited or that members would not receive everything pictured. The advertisements also promised that members
would receive 3 other gift bags throughout the year (Fathers Day, Back to
Though many joined initially, others felt this deal was “too good to be true.” But when women began receiving their gift bags in early May and posted pictures of the contents, women rushed to join and get in on the “deal.” Because of the response, Modern Mom continued extended deadlines to join and qualify for the gifts. Modern Mom even sent e-mails to their members with testimonials of the wonderful gift bags and promoting the future Fathers Day bag as well. Unfortunately, many women never received what was advertised.
At this point, you’re probably asking yourself why we’d get so worked up over $35. The truth is, while we were frustrated, in the beginning, we understood that this was a small company that got in “over its head.” What angered us was the way we were treated. Posting proof of advertising, or that the behavior perpetuated by Modern Mom was illegal was met with threats and harassments. Instead of apologizing, Modern Mom would attempt to remove or alter advertisements. People calling with legitimate inquiries were abused, routed into voicemail oblivion, or told to contact someone who didn’t exist.
People were promised refunds they never received. When members complained to the Better Business Bureau, Modern Mom often lied in response. To date, many women have not received ANY of the promised benefits of joining Modern Moms Clubs, nor have they received refunds, though they have been promised many times. In fact, some women received refunds in December only to discover that they had been retroactively cancelled! This is still going on and must be STOPPED!
