blog for radical fun day

as today is not only Cinco de Mayo but is also Blog for Radical Fun Day, i thought i would take a moment to announce my own source of radical fun for the day: i am receiving some work on my garden from a Master Gardener as barter for web design services. destroy the monetary system! oh, and i'm also providing temporary housing for a single mom and her little boy in my guest room.

bartering, sharing my wealth, communitarianism...that's my idea of fun. oh, and also i'm wearing my sunglasses in my programming lecture. that's kind of rebellious.

actually we've all got spring fever - even the teacher is cracking up luaghing trying to stay on topic and failing.

if i have more thoughts about radical fun, i'll add them later. i'm a little dry right now but i think it's a fabulous idea!

some much needed perspective for you

you'll thank me for this later.

this is all you need to know:

1. look! a person whose last name is "kennedy" appears to have crashed their car while driving under the influence of alcohol!!!

2. look! a person whose last name is "bush" appears to have crashed the economy, our store of international goodwill, our military might AND the Constitution while under the influence of alcohol, cocaine, gay prostitutes disguised as white house press corps journalists, and dick cheney's hand up his ass like a puppet!!!

3. ooh look! scary mexicans!

ˇFactinista! and, you're welcome - r@d@r

this is what happens when you drown the baby in the bathtub.

read every story.

the anarchist in me cringes at all of this. one can talk all one likes about the undeniable mitigating factors - the dreadful affects of imperialism and colonialism on africa causing tribal conflagration to erupt in the wake of its departure, the dreadful affects of starvation, privation, and lack of education; but the fact remains, there is no happy hunting ground, no anarchist paradise in sight for these brothers and sisters of ours. it causes me to reflect, 'outlaw government, and who but outlaws will govern?'

i think there's bitter irony in the following statement, which would have been almost funny if not for the dire context under which it occurs:

"I smash the foundations of the US embassy wall to get steel rods to sell"

maybe the correct analysis is this: that "anarchy" is not really the problem, but rather the fact that in a part of the world where there is hardly any food or clean drinking water or housing or proper education or healthcare, let alone anything resembling public safety, there are always guns for sale. [this is an important thing to reflect on in our own country as well. it's easier to get a gun than it is to get prescription drugs.]

who profits from the trafficking of arms to somali warlords? [or to america's urban gangs, or racist militias for that matter?] i don't think there are factories in somalia churning out AK-47's.

F?!K ME!!!!!

hearing the stirring chords of "pretty in pink" by the psychedelic furs [the real version, not the lame-assed watered-down version recorded for the stupid-as-f?!k movie of the same name] coming from the TV, i look up...

and see that dick butler 'n' friends have sold out to Cingular.

good thing i don't own any firearms.

i guess i'm supposed to feel bad, again

spittle and ink knows just where to stick the knife in, and twist.

my excuse is a good one, at least partially: the sprout, at 4 months, is a bit young for demonstrations.

dept. of schadenfreude, schedule 1

dirty hippie drug user. nothing but a drain on society. oughta get locked up and have the key thrown into the ocean.

i'm sure now we'll be hearing about conservative compassion for those afflicted with addiction, all oprah-esque and full of weepy contrition. like jim bakker. or beloved "anti-drug" pin-eyed pillhead nancy R.

i'm sure the AA thing for me to do would be to say "there but for the grace of my Higher Power go i"...but fuck it. so long, hindenburg!

dept. of schadenfreude, grade 6

pushing rope has posted a fantastic story in which attorney general gonzales gets asked some embarrassing questions by a 12-year-old regarding US foreign policy. that the kid was not satisfied being brushed off with platitudes, and one of gonzales' toadies wanted to shoo away the press from the photo op to do damage control, makes the story that much sweeter. kid: if you were mine, it would be ice cream and cake for the rest of your natural life.

when 12 year old schoolkids are willing to ask the administration tough questions that the press aren't...i don't know whether that's a cause for celebration, or tears.

towel: to throw or not to throw?

i'm getting bored, and i fear it's making me boring. but shutting up is definitely not in my bag of tricks, so if you're interested in finding me reincarnated elsewhere, let me know, and as soon as that elsewhere is settled - i'll let YOU know.

i walked around with my daughter in one of these today in the glorious sunshine, and had a blast. [they should have pics of daddies wearing them!]
