WOT'S HE SAYIN'?

The Beatles hid theirs; so did the Rolling Stones, Sting and Phil Collins. We're talking about a British accent. But now, after years of approximating an American singing voice, UK pop stars are recovering their native brogue, thanks in large part to marble-mouthed rapper Mike Skinner (aka the Streets). The results aren't always intelligible, but they speak to a new authenticity in Britpop.
