State Senators, Local Leaders Gather to Strengthen Security at NY Ports
The Senate Majority Task Force on Port Security, local business & government leaders, and area law enforcement met today (April, 20th) at a public hearing in Lower Manhattan to discuss the need to improve security at Coastal Waterways in New York’s Port facilities. I am announcing today to the people of Staten Island, whom I have served in the Senate for 50 years, that I will not seek reelection in November. I will mark my 85th birthday on May 20 and, although I feel generally healthy, I experienced a serious medical episode recently. And while I have recovered well, I am still gaining my strength. Albany, NY - Today, in honor of New York Library Week, Senator John J. Marchi (Staten Island) announced that increased funding for New York State’s libraries has been included in the budget agreement recently passed by both the State Senate and Assembly. Senator John J. Marchi, and the Senate Majority have stressed help for families in passing an on-time and responsible budget. Therefore, it is a budget that gives a high priority to families statewide in the Senate Majority’s program to return as much of the State’s multi-billion dollar surplus to its taxpayers as possible. All Clothing Purchases Up To $110 Now Tax Free, New York City Shoppers Save Big
Albany, NY - Today, Senator Marchi was pleased to announce the permanent elimination of the state sales tax on all clothing and shoes priced up to $110. "This is long overdue. Eliminating this tax is real relief for all of New York’s hardworking, overburdened taxpayers," said Senator Marchi.
