Note : Though some of the images on the following pages may represent allegories or religious figures, I havent found much difference in the secular fashions depicted by the same artist either in the same manuscripts or various ones of the same periods. So I believe that most of what you'll see here reprensent trends that might have actually been in style, even for a very short period. The only images that may be really allegorical come from the manuscript " Le livre des cleres et nobles femmes" by Giovanni Boccaccio (around 1490), though I have found various of these same exemples on tapestries and other manuscript so I believe that even though the manuscript is highly stylised in patterns and colors, the styles reflect a certain reality.
