ABOUT THE SITE

When I created The Constabulary homepage in 1996 I intended it to be an extension of my hobby and interests .... namely collecting British Police Memorabilia, Sherlockiana, and reading British True Crime and British Police History. First the requests trickled in; then, by 1998 they were pouring in! I began thinking I might be the only resource on the Internet focusing on these interests .... finally, I ran checks on several of the major search engines only to discover THE CONSTABULARY WAS THE ONLY RESOURCE!!! Well, that really caught my attention and made me realize what a tremendous responsibility maintaining a web site (of this type and theme) was going to be.

What began as a single 'scroll-down' page in 1996 has grown into a 'mega-site' with over 200 pages based on a framework of literally thousands of files. As the year 2005 flies by, The Constabulary begins to undergo its' third major revision. Now that the Webmaster has retired (from regular police work), he plans to devote more time and attention to the site and hopes to complete the enhancements before mid-2006. Many new features will continue to be added during this period so the Webmaster asks that you tolerate the inconvenience and continue your visits.

While maintaining a virtual presence on the World Wide Web, The Constabulary's mission is to provide visitors with an interesting, informative, and enjoyable online experience.
