Ishan Church

 It is in İşhan village of Yusufeli. It was constructed by the bagratlı Kingdomin in the first half of 9 th century. Its proper stone Works, plastic embossed designs and fresques are worth seeing. It is reached by 7km road seperated to the North direction from the point of 30km of the road connected Erzurum from Yusufeli over the route of Oltu.

Barhal Church

  It is in Altıparmak village of Yusufeli. It was constructed in the 10th century by the Bagratlı Kingdom on behalf of “Baptist Yahya” . ıts plan is basilical and it was turned into a mosque at the end of 17.th century and is stil used as a mosque. Therefore it is the most well protected historical monument in Yusufeli. Its stone work is proper and the building is very sound. Its monumental aura is worth seeing. It is reached from Yusufeli by road of 29 km to the north side.

Tekkale (Dörtkilise) Church

  It is in Tekkale village of Yusufeli. It is composed of a bell tower, church, dining hall, seminar room and chapel. The building group was constructed at the end of 9th century by the Georgian King David as a school of nuns. Its plan resembles that of Altıparmak Church. It reflects the middle ages monastery pattern very well in the region. Tekkale village is 6km to west of Yusufeli and the monastery 7km far away from the village center in the north.

Demirkent Mosque

Under the frame of Turkish-Islamic culture the construction of mosques were started in the 16th century. An increase in building of mosque in which civil architectural tradition was dominat, started at the beginning of 18.th century. The most outstanding structures in which wooden hand made ornaments on the portals, pulpits, walls and ceilings of mosques are very important. Especially the wooden hand made ornaments are worth to be seen.

Other Places

It is acceptable to call Yusufeli as “ castle town” because there are a lot of castles in Yusufeli. Also there are many observation points constructed especially on the high unreachable rocky places. Especailly in the middle time since security was the most important problem, people living at that time constructed these points to observe the surrounding and take steps for their security. It is told that from each observation point people could comminicate by making fair. Tekkale castles is the most important castle in west region of Yusufeli. It takes 10 minutes from city center to there. It is just near the Çoruh river.
