The Mausoleum was built in the period between 1892 and 1897, in memory of perished Romanian soldiers. It was constructed with funds of Romanian people. It was unveiled in 1902. Iconostasis and frescoes were made by Romanian artists. In the crypt, the bones of the perished during the third attack for the liberation of Pleven Romanian heroes are kept. 17 Russian and Romanian monuments were constructed near the Grivitsa fortifications, soon after the war.

In 1958 the construction of a memorial park started. It occupies an area of 360 dec.

In 1967 a museum exposition was unveiled. It depicts the battles near the village of Grivitsa during the Russian-Turkish War, and the fighting way of the Romanian army.
