The Bruno Walter Memorial Foundation undertakes projects that help
the career development of orchestral conductors.
Established in 1963 by the estate of the world-famous conductor, Bruno
Walter, the Foundation has launched a new program of grants in support of
the assistant/associate conductor position. The purpose of the grants is to
assist emerging conductors in their career development by encouraging opera
companies and orchestras to provide mentoring and hands-on learning
opportunities. In addition, these grants will help remind musicians and the
general public of the invaluable contribution Maestro Walter made during his
lifetime to opera, symphonic music, and the training of young conductors.
The program is described in this website.
