Eurovision, Watched with Great Interest by Romanian Audience

Sunday, 20th May, between 10,00 PM and 1,30 AM Romanian time, during the live broadcast from Athens of the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, TVR 1, the main channel of Romanian Television (TVR) attracted the greatest audience, outrunning all the other Romanian television stations.
The average number of viewers was 1,703,000 people from the urban environment, which demonstrates that Mihai Trăistariu, the Romanian competitor, kept people from his home in front of television sets. His performance, the 4th place from the 24 competitors present in the contest, brought TVR a rating of 15.1% and a share of 43.1%, at a long distance from the ratings of the other television stations (4.2% average rating and 12% market share for the second placed).
On the national level, the main channel of TVR was also classified first. No less than 2,757,000 people cheered the Romanian competitor, in comparison with 778,000 people who watched the programme of the second placed TV station.
