Latin Legends Live

The grandstand will come alive with the sounds of Tierra, featuring Rudy and Steve-The Salas Brothers reunion, Malo, plus original members of El Chicano, Ersi Arvisu, Mickey Lespron and friends. Relive what may have been Latin music’s hottest night ever. All three groups celebrated 25 years in show business with long enduring careers. Tierra has been named Best Rhythm and Blues Vocal Group by Billboard, Cashbox, Record World and BRE, and is the first Hispanic act to have four songs on the national charts and two songs simultaneously in the Top 100. Malo, rock rebels with a Latin slant. Its timeless recording “Sauvecito” still has an impact on today’s artists. Its unique sound is leaving a lasting impression on the history of its music. Ersi and Mickey, formerly of El Chicano, will light up the stage with their earthy soulful vocals. Hits include “Sabor A Mi,” “I’m a Good Woman,“ “Viva Tirado,”  “Tell Her She’s Lovely” and “Brown Eyed Girl,” all with their trademark sound of Latin rhythms, jazz and rock.

Heart

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the ‘70s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On” and so many more. They took some time off, reunited in 2002, touring extensively. They return to the road again in 2006, in support their Love Songs project, a compilation of Heart hits, some in new versions, and a few brand new recordings of Ann and Nancy’s favorite covers including Elton John’s “Love Song.”  Heart is here to rock and you’re invited to be a part of it.

Montgomery Gentry

This high-powered duo is an integral part of a generation of rockers and country icons for whom music and boundaries simply don’t mix. Ana Bárbara & Los Tucanes de Tijuana

One of Latin music’s leading solo artists with a mesmerizing combination of vocal talent, beauty, image and charisma, Ana will charm the crowd. Ana’s debut album Ana Bárbara, was released in 1994, and earned a Gold Record. The first single on the album, “Nada,” soared to the top of the radio charts. Ana showcases her songwriting talent in songs such as “Lo Busque” and “Bailando.” 

Los Tucanes de Tijuana was formed by vocalist/guitarist Mario Quintero Lara, vocalist/accordionist Joel Higuera, drummer David Servin and bassist Mario Moreno. The group has released Amor Platonico, Nuestras Primeras Cancionse Volume 1 collection, Los Mas Buscados, Me Gusta Burlar la Ley, Mi Gusta Vivir de Noche and Mission Especial. Los Tucanes de Tijuana was the only regional band nominated in 2003s Latin Grammy’s nominated for Best Norteno Album for its disc “Jugo a la vida.”  The groups appearance will be special.

Rihanna and Special Act TBA

Rihanna
Rihanna, the Barbados born songstress had a big 2005. Her single, the hypnotic “Pon De Replay,” was one of the most popular singles of the year, she toured with Gwen Stefani, posed for magazine covers in Los Angeles, and shot her first movie role for “Bring It On 3.”  The lead single, “SOS (Rescue Me)”, was used in her endorsement deal with Nike. It debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Digital Songs charts where it became the biggest first week digital single ever. “Unfaithful" became her third top 10 hit in the U.S. Take in the talented Barbadian R&B singer with musical influences from pop, hip hop, dancehall and soca.

Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo

Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo were last at the Fair in 2001, three days after 9/11. Pat Benatar sang “God Bless America,” a memory so moving, it touched the hearts of everyone in attendance. The pair returns in 2006, part of the non-stop touring they’ve done over the last 20 years. They met in 1978, sparked an immediate rapport on stage and off, put together a band and made So. California their home. More than two decades ago, Benatar blazed a new trail for female rock stars. Songs such as “Love is a Battlefield,” “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” “We Live for Love” and “Heartbreaker,” became anthems for a new attitude. Neil Giraldo is a talented artist, writer and producer that has helped mold the unique sound of his wife.  He is known not only as an accomplished guitarist and songwriter but also as a producer. He began producing during the recording of the Crimes of Passion album and has produced all of Benatar’s albums since. The L.A. County Fair proudly welcomes back Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited

Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” may not have intended it, but their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited has taken on a startling life of its own. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section, bass and drums respectively, from the legendary group Creedence Clearwater Revival launched the Creedence Clearwater Revisited project in 1995 to once again perform live the hits, touchstones of a generation. They now perform up to 100 shows a year and have released the album Recollection.  Stu and Cosmo and their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited add a new chapter to their legacy with vibrant and exhilarating energy and pure American spirit. Get ready to be on your feet with hits like “Born on the Bayou,” “Lodi,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” “Proud Mary” and “Suzie Q.”

Grand Funk Railroad
Grand Funk emits a surging, elemental blast of hard rock heat. Today the group includes original founding members Don Brewer and Mel Schacher, joined by their all-star band. This American Band will rock the Grandstand.

LG World Championships of Freestyle Motocross

With a $100,000 purse on the line and one of the most acclaimed courses of the year, all the best riders in the world come out for this event, including Jeremy Stenberg, Mat Rebeaud, Mike Mason, Dustin Miller and defending three-time world champion Nate Adams. The LG Action Sports World Tour is the only global professional multi-sport competition series of its kind. It features skateboarding, BMX, rollerblading and FMX. This promises to be a banner year as Jamie Bestwick, Pierre Luc Gagnon, Eito Yasutoko prepare, but it won’t be easy since every pro in the world wants a shot at the purses.

Donna Summer

It’s the last dance at the 2006 End of Summer Concert Series and who better to sign off than ‘70s star and multi- Grammy winner Donna Summer? She was defined in the ‘70s as the “Queen of Disco,” but Summer’s actually spans a range of musical genres from R&B and rock to inspirational and dance. She recorded Love to Love You Baby, a No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 hits. Following were Grammy-award winning hits “Bad Girls” and “Hot Stuff,” and the Academy-award winning theme song “Last Dance” from the film Thank God it’s Friday. A steady stream of hits followed including “She Works Hard for the Money,” “Melody of Love” and “Carry On.” Not limited to a stellar musical career, Summers is an accomplished visual artist, with works shown at exhibition in every major U.S. city and in Japan. Her first book, “Ordinary Girl,” was released in 2003. The audience will be on their feet for this show.
