The AAIR Data Warehousing special interest group was formed at the 2005 AAIR Annual Forum in Melbourne for University staff with an interest in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and other similar information systems. By mid of 2006, the group had registration of over 90 members from 36 Australian and New Zealand institutions and other organisations.
The group aims to provide a forum for
sharing of information and discussion about the use at tertiary education
institutions, for the purpose of management information and decision
making, of any of the following:
- A Data Warehouse or similar database
- Business Intelligence Tools
- Management Information environments
- Digital Dashboards
- Data Quality frameworks and processes
- Portals

Data Warehousing SIG Forum (Adelaide, July 2006)
UniSA recently hosted the first meeting of the Data Warehousing Special Interest Group at the City West Campus of UniSA in Adelaide. The 2 day event included speakers from 5 Australian universities and 2 major software vendors (COGNOS and Microsoft). The event was attended by representatives from 18 Australian and 2 New Zealand universities. The presentations are available on the Forum website.
