Digital Rights Management

Text only Printable version

CEN/ISSS set up a group to examine the standardization aspects of technologies for digital rights management (CEN/ISSS DRM Group), following the approval of the European Union Directive 2001/29/EC on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the context of the Information Society.

The CEN/ISSS Group - which was open to all interested parties - was formed in October 2001, and is under the Chairmanship of Ms. Verina Horsnell, European Standards Manager of Sun Microsystems.

An open meeting was held on 7th February 2003 to discuss the draft report and the Final Report was approved in October 2003.

Further information on the  DRM Group can be obtained from James Boyd at CEN/ISSS (E-mail).

The approved Terms of Reference for the CEN/ISSS DRM Group can be accessed here.
